Introducing Te Tau Waka
An exciting partnership between Fletcher Living and Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara, comprising 58 quality-built homes in a vibrant coastal setting.
Building on the best of Fletcher Living’s experience, Te Tau Waka feels right at home in Hobsonville Point.
The community is linked via friendly laneway systems that nurture connections. Terraces are cleverly clustered in small groups that prioritise privacy, amongst thoughtful landscaping.
Fletcher Living homes are crafted for comfort and durability. Striking brick exteriors create a lasting impression from the street, while inside, interiors have been carefully selected to stand the test of time.
The Resting Waka
Communities thrive under the Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara and Fletcher Living partnership, as a result of a deeper connection to culture and the land. Grounded in heritage, Te Tau Waka means ‘The Resting Waka’ - a narrative which is expressed throughout the master planning of this progressive development.
The waters around Hobsonville Point were historically a prominent area for waka and a strategic point of access for Ngāti Whātua to the Kaipara and Waitematā Harbours.
The waka is also a symbol and metaphor for travel, arrival, and settlement and reflects Hobsonville Point’s maritime heritage.
Under the direction of the award-winning team at Construkt Architects, thoughtful elements have been infused in the design to celebrate the waka.
Building facades feature striking brick patterns, a modern expression of the rope bindings that secure the vessel.
Lane names draw from the waka too, including Aukaha (lashings for the bulwark/top boards of the waka, representing binding and uniting together) and Rauawa (the waka bulwark/top boards), while native planting aims to restore the site’s natural environment.
